Pope Francis has sent the Internet into a spin after he was presented with a soccer ball by a member of the Circus of Cuba and inspired a onslaught of new memes.

The presentation happened during his weekly general audience in the Pope Paul VI hall at the Vatican yesterday and Pope Francis wowed crowds with his skill.

The Circus of Cuba performer placed the spinning ball onto the Pope's index finger for around three seconds before removing it again.

The meme enthusiasts created an array of hilarious Photoshopped images, including one where the Pope had been transformed into Avengers villain Thanos

 Others saw a variety of different objects spinning on his finger in place of the soccer ball, including Donald Trump's head

However the moment sparked a Photoshop Battle on Reddit, where users competed to created the funniest picture using the original spinning ball snap.

The meme enthusiasts created an array of hilarious Photoshopped images, including one where the Pope had been transformed into Avengers villain Thanos and the Circus de Cuba artiste was under a trance thanks to his Infinity Gauntlet.
