Start saving for 2019 with some helpful saving tricks[/caption]

The idea of January saving always seems like hard work after all that Christmas overspending but you can start chipping away at your bills in 2019 with some simple tricks.

Here’s my round-up of Sun Savers’ easy, pain-free, savvy tips to get you started . . .

Cook savvy: Angela Thomson from Ardrossan, North Ayrshire, says: “When cooking a roast joint in the oven, I always cook an additional roast then freeze the second joint of meat for later.

“It saves me on the costs of heating my oven, you can benefit from supermarket offers, and it means I have a meal ready, so no last-minute rushing to the shops.”

Instead of stocking up on different cleaning products, try using washing up liquid as a multi-purpose cleaner

Be a clean queen: Catherine Blenner-Hassett from Sandbach, Cheshire says: “Forget about buying expensive cleaning products. Instead, always keep a bottle of washing up liquid and a clean cloth nearby.

“Use it to clean your bathroom, hard surfaces and much more, not just your dishes.”

Shop around: Janet Rogers from Hornchurch, Essex, says: “Head to eBay and shop at the discount outlets from top stores like Argos, Lakeland and Currys where they sell end-of-line or discontinued stock and returns.

“It’s great for picking up bargain birthday presents now to plan for the year ahead, and most now offer free delivery.”

To stop the bills mounting up even more next Christmas buy a basket and snap up deals throughout the year to fill it[/caption]

Go budget for beauty: Lisa Yong from Kingston upon Thames says: “If you want to make posh body lotion or face cream go further, add a little aqueous cream (from 99p for a 500ml pot at chemists).

It will still smell strong but will last longer.”

An all-year saving tip to finish: Susan Chapman from Newcastle upon Tyne, says: “I buy a large washing basket and snap up ‘buy one, get one free’ offers through the year and save spare items in the basket.

“Then I have Christmas hamper ready for my daughter.”

Hayden Panettiere
Size: 8
Age: 18
Height: 5ft 1in
Weight: 8st

To achieve her kick-ass figure, Hayden – who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes – follows the ‘quartering’ rule. She eats only a quarter of the food on her plate, then waits 20 minutes before deciding whether she needs to eat again.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”

kim cattrall

SATC star Kim swears by gym sessions with Russian kettle bells (traditional cast-iron weights) and the South Beach Diet to give her the body she wants. To avoid overeating, Kim has a radical diet trick – squirting lemon juice on her leftovers – so she won’t carry on picking.

Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
