A CITY worker has died after plunging four storeys inside a Canary Wharf shopping centre in the London business district’s second death plunge in 24 hours.
Distraught eye-witnesses say the suited man, believed to be in his 50s, put down his bag and sent a text before falling from the fourth floor of the complex.

Police and paramedics were called to the Canary Wharf Shopping Centre in East London at around 8.45am this morning.
The man received treatment from paramedics at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The manager of Itsu restaurant inside the mall told MailOnline he saw the man put down his bag and appear to send a text message before falling to his death.
Another restaurant worker said: “He was standing by the railing outside Nando’s – on the fourth floor. I went down the escalator, I looked up and he had disappeared.”
Jordan Bruin, a manager at a nearby clothing shop, described hearing “the loudest bang and a lot of screaming” at 8.40am.
The 25-year-old said: “I ran out of the shop and there was a guy lying on the floor, he had fallen from the top floor.
“There were quite a few people around, and ambulance staff appeared fast – they gave him CPR for 15 minutes. I could see the air ambulance staff leaving, there was nothing else they could do.
A woman, who did not want to be named, said: “Security came and told me a man had jumped.”
A section of the shopping centre was closed off by police for around three hours after the tragedy.
A Met Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called at 8.44am by the London Ambulance Service to reports of a man who had fallen from height in Canada Square.
“Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended. The man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.05am.”
The incident comes less than 24 hours after a person died after falling from a height inside Canary Wharf tube station.
