Distraught witnesses have revealed how a City worker 'leapt to his death' from the fourth floor of a Canary Wharf shopping centre - less than 24 hours after a commuter was killed in a similar horror plunge at the banking district's Tube station.
The manager of Itsu restaurant in Cabot Place mall told MailOnline the man, described as in his 50s, appeared to send a text message on his phone before falling to his death.
Paramedics were seen desperately giving CPR near a set of escalators on the ground floor of the four-storey mall. Despite their best efforts to save his life he died just after 9am this morning.
It comes a day after another man, aged 32, also died after falling from some escalators at the nearby Canary Wharf tube station.

Witnesses today described hearing a 'ping' and a 'thud' before seeing the grisly scenes on the ground floor below. One told how the man 'disappeared' over the fourth-storey railing.
A restaurant worker, who asked not to be named, told MailOnline: 'He was a white man, about 50 years old, wearing a suit. He looked like a banker.
'He was standing by the railing outside Nando's - on the fourth floor. I went down the escalator, I looked up and he had disappeared.
'I heard from screams and I looked down and the man was lying at the bottom of the escalator. He was not moving.'
A member of staff at the Halifax bank near to the escalators said: 'I heard a ping and then a thud so I ran out and looked over the side.
'There was a body lying on the floor he had fallen straight past me. I couldn't look anymore, I had to look away. We've been told to keep the doors closed and stay inside'.
Canary Wharf resident Justin Fynes, 36, was walking past the ground floor level of Cabot Place by designer store Paul Smith as the man, who appeared to look like a City worker, fell.
