BILLY Connolly had viewers in tears as he reflected on his life “slipping away” in his latest documentary.

Billy, 76, appeared in the second part of his BBC series Made In Scotland tonight and admitted he’s now “near the end” of his life.

Billy Connolly has revealed his health is rapidly getting worse

The funnyman was dealt a devastating blow when he was diagnosed with both prostate cancer and Parkinson’s on the same day in 2013.

In a clip filmed last year, Billy said: “There is no denying it, I am 75, I have got Parkinson’s and I am at the wrong end of the telescope of life. I am at the point where the yesteryears mean more than the yesterdays.

“Because it is back there in my childhood and youth when I go to all those things that made me that live keenest in my memory now.”

Later in the documentary he added: “My life, it’s slipping away and I can feel it and I should.

The 76-year-old’s new BBC documentary, Made in Scotland, may be his last TV work

“I’m 75, I’m near the end. I’m a damn sight nearer the end than I am the beginning.

“But it doesn’t frighten me, it’s an adventure and it is quite interesting to see myself slipping away.”

Viewers were in tears at Billy’s trip down memory lane, and shared their sadness at his health problems.

One wrote on Twitter: “Billy Connolly just breaks my heart. True definition of legend.”

Another added: “Billy Connolly: Made in Scotland, in absolute tears. He is the true meaning of a legend!”

A third tweeted: “I just love billy connolly to bits, he’s like a part of the family to most of us here in scotland, just cause he’s that loved.”

A fourth agreed, writing: “Watching Sir Billy Connolly: Made In Scotland. Absolute legend of a man! @Billy_Connolly”.

Meanwhile a fellow viewer tweeted: “If there’s one famous person who we must protect at all times, it’s Billy Connolly.”

Billy also discussed his love of swearing as well as literature and art
