AMY Adams and Patricia Arquette suffered an awkward moment after they tied in the Best Actress category at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night.
Amy, 44 and Patricia, 50, had been named joint winners and tried to thank their producers, writers and loved ones on stage – but there was only one microphone.
Amy was introduced first for her role in Sharp Objects and spent a few moments alone in the limelight, telling the crowd: “I want the other girl up here. I mean WOMAN?”
Patricia was then announced for her role in Escape at Dannemora and interrupted Amy’s thank-you – but ended up talking over her.
As the pair laughed nervously Amy carried on, and Patricia interrupted her again, before they pretended to fight over their gone – and the microphone.
Finally Amy continued, as piano music tried to play them off stage: “I actually can’t think of a more beautiful thing than a tie because there really isn’t a winner when we get to do such great work and we have such wonderful opportunities.”
And Amy went on: “I’m overwhelmed … Thank you HBO!”
And Patricia added: “Thank you Showtime!”
The stars won in the Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie made for Television and at least didn’t have to share their gong.
Patricia managed to get the final word in after their funny exchange, and shared a message about the treatment of women in film.

She thanked Ben Stiller, as she said: “”I want to thank Ben Stiller—our incredible, courageous director who really let us explore and remove the yolk from my neck that I felt I’ve carried my whole career of, ‘But is she likable?’
“Thank you for taking that off my neck. It was really heavy for me to carry that long.”
