A TEENAGER was left in a coma for three days after suffering a brain bleed in a horror ski-jump accident.
Schoolboy Nicholas Guest, 17, had to be airlifted to hospital in the Swiss Alps after landing head-first on packed snow.
Shocked family members rushed from Tranent, East Lothian, to his bedside as the youngster battled for life in an intensive care unit.
But his relieved sister told how Nicholas has now regained consciousness — although he is still struggling to communicate, eat on his own or walk unaided after his ordeal at the Saas-Fee resort.
Lizzy Guest, 27, said: “Nicholas took a jump on a ski slope and he misjudged the landing.
“His head must have hit the ground with some force as it cracked his helmet.
“He actually filmed a video on his phone afterwards but then collapsed and was taken to a local hospital.
“But after doctors spotted he had bleeding on the brain he was transferred to a bigger hospital, where they medically extended his coma.”

Lizzy added: “It was a total shock to us when we found out. Luckily Nicholas is strong and determined.
“He just got out of intensive care yesterday and is improving a little bit each day. He is struggling to talk and is slurring a bit.
“His mobility is also affected and Nicholas needs help when eating. But he’s getting back to himself slowly.
“He just wants to get out of here and go home now.”
The pupil at Preston Lodge High, Prestonpans, was on a winter break with pals when he crashed into the slope last week.

He is now recovering in Hotel du Valais hospital in Sion, where his visitors have included mum Marian, 51, siblings John and Theresa plus Lizzy and her fiance Daniel Hunter.
An online GoFundMe appeal to help cover the family’s costs has already raised over £2,000.
Lizzy said: “People offered to help us stay here to support Nicholas through this. We’re so grateful for all the kind messages and backing.”
