"Many Photos" - Hillsborough safety officer was ‘too busy entertaining corporate clients’ to do his job on match days

THE safety officer at Hillsborough where 96 Liverpool fans died was “too busy entertaining corporate clients” to do the job on match days, a jury heard.

Graham Mackrell, 69, made the comment in 1987 to David Moore, once an environmental health officer with Sheffield city council.

South Yorks police match commander David Duckenfield, 74, denies the gross negligence manslaughter of 95 Liverpool fans at the FA Cup semi-final in April, 1989.

The trial continues at Preston crown court.
