TOM Allen is an English comedian, actor, and writer who hosted Bake Off: The Professionals on Channel 4.

Who is Tom Allen?

Tom Allen was born on June 14, 1983.

When he was 22, Tom won the UK’s most prestigious comedy newcomer award So You Think You’re Funny in 2005. He also won the BBC New Comedy Awards in the same year.

He supported Sarah Millican on her sold out 2016 tour of Australia, New Zealand and the UK. He has also supported Josh Widdicombe, Romesh Ranganathan and Michael McIntyre.

Tom has also starred in the films Tamara Drewe, Colour Me Kubrick with John Malkovich, Starter for Ten with James McAvoy and Mark Gatiss.

TV wise, he has made appearances on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Mock the Week, The Great British Bake Off’s Extra Slice, Celebrity The Crystal Maze, The John Bishop Show and Channel 4’s Comedy Gala at the O2.

What is Bake Off: The Professionals?

Tom hosted Bake Off: The Professionals alongside Great British Bake Off star Liam Charles.

The show – known as Bake Off: Crème de la Crème while it was on the BBC – features 12 professional baking duos complete in heats judged by pastry chefs Cherish Finden and Benoit Blin, who have been with the show since its start in 2016.

Allen said: “I am over the moon to be joining the Bake Off family and to be working with such a great team including my co-host Liam, the judges and some truly incredible professional patissiers (…is that how you spell it? Basically people who make cake for money).

“Finally! It feels like getting that A* in food technology GCSE was all worth it in the end!”

Charles added: “I’m totally amazed by the skill of professional chefs and to be doing this so soon after Bake Off, is just sick. I can’t wait to get cracking. I told you I’d be back.”
