New photo Strictly Come Dancing Final: Ashley Roberts sets the bar high with ANOTHER perfect score

Ashley Roberts and Pasha Kovalev set the bar high at the beginning of the Strictly Come Dancing final, scoring yet another perfect score with a reprisal of her Dirty Dancing salsa.

As the show's tense finale began, the Pussycat Doll wowed the panel with her first dance of the night, ahead of taking to the floor for a showdance and her favourite dance of the series.

It comes as she goes head-to-head with Stacey Dooley, Joe Sugg and Faye Tozer for the coveted Glitterball trophy, with the Steps singer rivalling her from the outset, as she also scored her third 40.

Up first was Ashley and Pasha, who were re-performing their Dirty Dancing-inspired Salsa to (I’ve Had The) Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes from Movie Week.

The judges explained that there was certainly 'room for improvement' in the routine, and after scoring 35 the first time around, they insisted it certainly had the potential for a perfect score.

Once again nailing that famous lift, the dance proved to be a real crowd pleaser, as the Pussycat Doll looked to be having the time of her life on the floor, and the panel gushed that she managed to make the dance even better the second time around.

Shirley said: 'When you think something cant get any better you managed to take it to the nxt leve, oyu are fearless you have the most beautiful spirited heart, and thank you for opening our final the way you did it was brilliant.'

Craig added: 'You managed to take all the notes on board and you made that dance live it was absolutely a-may-zing!'

This led to Ashley and Pasha's third 40 of the series, as she set the bar extremely high for the other three couples.

Ashley hoped to continue her good fashion with the legendary Showdance, which took all manner of risks with a contemporary theme - and a revolving stage - to Keeping Your Head Up by Birdy.

The daring dance left Shirley utterly stunned as she remained standing throughout her critique, and led to the duo's second 40 of the night.

She gushed: 'The thing is we already you know you are a great dancer, but you have stretched yourself beyond limits, you have brought to this show, a life, a style and I am truly grateful to you.'

Craig added: 'I had a small problem with your right two darling then I decided to get over myself!'

As Ashley rushed back up to the balcony to find out her score, she needed a brief bit of help from Claudia, who quickly rubbed lipstick away from her teeth.

Next was Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton, and they were tasked with re-dancing the Foxtrot to High Ho Silver Lining by Jeff Beck.

Across the board the judges praised the broadcaster's improvement throughout the competition - with particular focus on her frame - resulting in yet another near-perfect score of 39.

Bruno said: 'What you have is this ability to bring every character into every dance to vibrant life, apart from your technique which has also improved, you have this ability to inhabit every character, I said watch this girl she's a contender and you proved me right!'

Craig added: 'You really have worked on the frame I thought it was absolutely gorgeous, so confident, fantastic.'

Third to dance was Faye Tozer and Giovanni Pernice, with the judges tasking them with the Viennese Waltz to It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World by Seal.

Showcasing how far she had come, the Steps singer left the judges utterly spellbound, also earning her third 40 of the series.

Darcy said: 'Faye you are the best ballroom dancer in the competition and you have just proved that, it's so unusual to see that emotion and that drama to a Viennese Waltz but that transition from the floor into hold was effortless and that superb fleckle to finish I loved it.'

In a hilarious moment of judges banter, Shirley quoted Bruno's Week Two comments where he said Faye shouldn't listen to her on technique, adding: 'I loved it. I felt you listened to me I felt you worked on the technique.'

The final couple to dance was Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell, who were looking to improve on a tough semi-final, with a reprisal of their Paso Doble to Pompeii by Bastille.

Showing how far he had come over 13 weeks, the social media star nailed his dramatic knee-walk, as he sported the red hair he vowed to dye if he made it to the final.

The dance saw them also score 39 points, with Darcy saying: 'What a comeback my gosh the difference is outstanding, the command of the dance that you have now, the focus, just how you held the end, but it was so beautiful.

'The use of your body now you are placing the shaping of your arms, you are delivering, you nailed it. You are owning this dance well done.'

Ever the picky judge Craig added: 'The shaping for me was a little bit forced. It's only my opinion darling, but what I love about you is your commitment, you have really committed yourself entirely and it is wonderful to see I love that about you.'

The final was nothing short of a spectacular affair, as the professional dancers performed an amazing group routine with the four finalists, ahead of taking to the stage for their three dances.

It had only been confirmed beforehand that the couples would each dance a Judges Choice and the Showdance, with their favourite dance remaining a mystery until the big night.

While Strictly is known for never being short of drama, this series seems to have been its most explosive yet, with no shortage of scandals, rumours and behind-the-scenes drama.

Explosive: Of course the most prominent scandal was that of the kiss between Strictly's Seann Walsh and his married dance partner Katya Jones

Of course the most prominent was the dramatic kiss scandal between Strictly's Seann Walsh and his married dance partner Katya Jones, when the pair were spotted sharing a kiss on a night out.

The snaps came out just hours after Seann's then-girlfriend of five years Rebecca Humphries was seen emotionally cheering him on in the audience, when the dancing duo wowed with a Matrix-theme Paso Doble.

Sadly the good times were short-lived after the snaps showing Seann and Katya's kiss were published, as it was also revealed the exchange in question took place on Rebecca's birthday (October 3rd).

Brutal: After Seann and Katya were seen sharing a kiss on a night out (left) the comic was dumped by his girlfriend Rebecca Humphries (right) in a scathing Twitter statement

The actress proceeded to dump Seann in an extremely public Twitter statement, in which she accused him of 'inappropriate' and 'hurtful' behaviour, as well as admitting he called her a 'psycho/nuts/mental.'

Meanwhile Seann and Katya both issued grovelling social media apologies, and also appeared on It Takes Two to set the record straight, with Katya insisting her marriage to Neil was 'absolutely fine.'

The duo weren't voted off Strictly until three weeks later, but rumours have circulated for weeks since that the Katya and Neil's marriage has suffered thanks to the kiss, while Seann has been cashing in on the uproar by branding himself Britain's 'most hated comedian.'

The comic was also banned from next year's Strictly tour, and Seann and Katya have also since been axed.

Also prominent in the Strictly news was Danny John-Jules and his professional partner Amy Dowden, following allegations that he 'bullied' the Welsh dancer.

Sources claimed that Danny was given 'a final warning' for 'repeatedly shouting and swearing' at Amy, although she was quick to dismiss the claims as a minor disagreement, while Danny later claimed he was 'the victim of a vendetta.'

Regardless the following week the couple were eliminated despite being serious contenders to go all the way in previous shows, and Danny refused to appear on It Takes Two for an exit interview meaning Amy had to appear solo.

It was also reported that Danny launched a 'furious tirade' at the judges and audience after the results show finished filming, with Danny allegedly declaring 'I should have won', and calling the judges 'imbeciles'

There were also reports that Danny would not appear in the show's grand final, but the Red Dwarf star was seen reuniting with the cast for rehearsals in a social media snap.

And two of this year's finalists - Ashley and Faye - have also been under fire from fans, who accused them of having an advantage thanks to previous dance experience.

The two stars have stormed through the competition with consistently high scores, and both have earned the perfect score of 40 points twice.

ASHLEY ROBERTS AND FAYE TOZER'S 'DANCE EXPERIENCE'

Both singers Ashley and Faye were accused of having an advantage over the other celebrity contestants, thanks to their previous experience in dancing.

The two stars have stormed through the competition with consistently high scores, but Ashley has landed in the dance-off three times.

Ashley has defended her previous dance skills on more than one occasion, while Faye was revealed to be trained

It also seems to have affected her support in the competition, as despite being one of the best celebrity dancers, Ashley has been in the dance-off three times.

Meanwhile Faye has also come under fire for her previous dance skills, but has also managed to make it to the final.

The Steps star was also revealed to be trained in twelve types of dances, according to a copy of her CV.

FAYE TOZER AND GIOVANNI PERNICE'S COSY LUNCH DISPLAY

Faye and Giovanni also set tongues wagging when they were pictured enjoying a low-key lunch together, with the Italian dancer seen to be caressing her face through the window.

The pair's close bond was apparent, and Faye's husband Michael Smith poked fun at the rumours with a playful social media snap of food on his face.

STACEY DOOLEY AND KEVIN CLIFTON'S FRIENDSHIP

Broadcaster Stacey Dooley and her pro partner Kevin Clifton were tipped as the favourite to win ahead of the final, after winning over viewers with her incredible routines.

However it has since been reported that Stacey's boyfriend Sam Tucknott is 'insanely jealous' of their close friendship, despite her reassurance there is nothing going on, according to sources.

Stacey has since posted defiant social media snaps of her cosying up to her man, while he has been cheering her on at every live show.

JOE SUGG AND DIANNE BUSWELL ROMANCE RUMOURS

Since they were partnered up, social media star Joe Sugg and his partner Dianne Buswell have been at the centre of endless dating rumours, after it was first reported they were seen kissing.

This came after Dianne's split from Emmerdale star Anthony Quinlan in October.

While the pair are yet to confirm they are dating, they have also remained coy on the claims in recent interviews.

VICK HOPE AND GRAZIANO DI PRIMA'S ELIMINATION

Coming into the competition, Capital Radio DJ Vick Hope was tipped as a potential frontrunner, but instead the presenter was the 4th to be voted off.

In the ensuing days, Vick appeared to hit out at the show's head judge Shirley Ballas, claiming that the ballroom expert was rude to her and claimed that the panel spoke to producers before making their final decision between her and comedian Seann Walsh in the dance-off.

It has since been reported that Vick has been 'banned' from future BBC shows for her comments, with sources saying her words were 'pretty stupid.' A representative for Vick denied the claims to MailOnline.

Ashley has defended her previous dance skills on more than one occasion, as she said that the kind of dancing she did as a member of the Pussycat Dolls was not the same as Ballroom or Latin.

It also seems to have affected her support in the competition, as despite being one of the best celebrity dancers, Ashley has been in the dance-off three times.

Meanwhile Faye has also come under fire for her previous dance skills, but has also managed to make it to the final.

The pair's close bond was apparent, and Faye's husband Michael Smith poked fun at the rumours with a playful social media snap of food on his face.

And the songstress did go onto admit that her marriage was put under strain by constantly being away to train with Giovanni, as she laughed off anything more surrounding her lunch with the Italian dancer.

Speaking about her home life, the star admitted that it’s ‘tough being away from home’ but that communication is key.

She went on: ‘It’s always tricky being away from home. You just have to keep your head above water.

Capital FM DJ Vick Hope has also found herself at the centre of much controversy, after she was the fourth celebrity to be eliminated alongside pro partner Graziano Di Prima.

In the ensuing days, Vick appeared to hit out at the show's head judge Shirley Ballas, claiming that the ballroom expert was rude to her and claimed that the panel spoke to producers before making their final decision between her and comedian Seann Walsh in the dance-off.

She said on her breakfast radio show: 'We had to have a dance off as well - it was very strange – so after the dance off, then the judges have to give their decisions but there was a bit of a conflab with some producers and then they gave their decisions.

'And it was just stunned silence in the studio, it was a really weird atmosphere.'
