EX-MANCHESTER UNITED hero Jim Leighton hasn’t spoken with Sir Alex Ferguson since shortly after the 1990 FA Cup final, says he never will and wouldn’t even shake his former manager’s hand.
In an explosive interview, the former goalkeeper has lifted the lid on the fall-out from Manchester United’s dramatic, eventual victory over Crystal Palace 18 years ago.

Leighton, who Ferguson signed for the Red Devils from his former club Aberdeen, was in goal for the memorable 3-3 FA Cup final against the Eagles.
With the match going to a replay, Fergie dropped Leighton in favour of Les Sealey and Manchester United managed to eventually win 1-0 at Wembley.
Leighton, who won 91 caps for Scotland, has revealed their relationship was already frosty before then, but it became non-existent shortly after the high-profile snub.
Speaking to the BBC, an emotional Leighton said of their relationship after he joined United: “It got pretty frosty over the period, sort of about the last six months I was in the team.

“And then it went to zero about a couple of weeks after the final.
“And never spoke since and never will do again.”
Asked why, he said: “I didn’t like a lot of the things that he said and he done.”
Leighton only played one more game for Manchester United after that FA Cup final, despite remaining on the books at Old Trafford for another two years.

The 1990 FA Cup victory was the start of the most prolific reign of any manager in British footballing history, with the Scotsman going on to win everything in the game multiple times over.
Leighton added about Fergie: “”He was miles ahead of anybody in terms of knowledge of the game and tactics, but in terms of dealing with people, it wasn’t quite the same.”
Asked if he would shake Ferguson’s hand now, Leighton simply said “no”.
