New photo Saturday racing tips: NAPS for today’s racing as Matt Chapman and Templegate go head-to-head at Aintree and Sandown

IT’S that time of the week where our expert tipsters give us their best bets ahead of the weekend racing.

Both have taken aim at the big races. Templegate has a big price fancy in the Becher Chase and Chappers has stuck to his guns in the Tingle Creek.

Last week Chappers extended his lead after Buveur D’Air asserted his dominance on the hurdling division.

The late drift helped Matt with Nicky Henderson’s champ going off a crazy 11-8.

Templegate could only manage a third with Doitforthevillage running nicely at an each way price behind Lady Buttons.

It’s all to play for as the competition nears it’s climax after Christmas.

No doubt in my mind my Nap of the day is ALTIOR in the Tingle Creek.

To some he might be a short price, but for me he’s a big one.

And who knows what odds he will go off – my Nap last Saturday was Buveur d’Air and he was tremendous value in the end.

Come on Nicky Henderson! Let’s get the big double up. Yeeehaaa!

Templegate

HIGHLAND LODGE has a great record in this race over the big National fences. He won it on his debut for Jimmy Moffatt three years ago and was a bit unlucky to be nailed on the line by Vieux Lion Rouge 12 months later.

His third behind Blaklion last year came on pretty dreadful ground and he’ll appreciate the slightly drier conditions.

This is his race so he’s sure to be trained to peak today and I’m not put off by his age. He might be 12 but in the last six years teenagers Oscar Time and Hello Bud have both lifted this prize.
