THE Queen’s speech was the most-watched television show last Christmas Day.
But there’s one person who won’t be tuning into tomorrow afternoon’s broadcast – Her Majesty herself.
According to former royal butler Paul Burrell, Queen Elizabeth prefers for her family to watch her speech without her.
He tells the Daily Mail: “The Queen’s Speech will be played at 3pm, [the family] go through the saloon drawing room and switch the TV on, people will be expected to be there.
“But the one person missing will be Her Majesty, who will slip through the north end door and go for a walk, as she doesn’t like to watch herself.
“Then when she’s back they will congratulate her saying: ‘Oh, you were very good this year Granny. Well done.'”
And that’s not the only interesting quirk about the royals’ Christmas Day.
Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton and co. won’t be opening any presents on December 25.
Instead, they follow in German tradition by swapping gifts at 6pm on Christmas Eve.
With Prince Philip running the show, the packages are laid out on a table before everyone opens their prezzies in front of each other.
Interestingly, they’re only allowed to get each other cheap, jokey presents.
Wales Online reported in 2014 that Prince Harry once took the gag gift rule to the extreme with a very rude present for the Queen.
The cheeky prince allegedly got his grandma a shower cap with a slogan across it reading: “Ain’t Life A B****.”
The Queen was said to have loved the funny gesture – and she’s not the only one to enjoy a good festive joke.
Prince Charles’ favourite ever present is reportedly a white leather toilet seat from Princess Anne, which he found so comfy that it now travels with him on his overseas tours.
Last year, Meghan Markle reportedly gifted the Queen a singing hamster.

And throwback photos of Prince William with a beard have emerged – and fans can’t get over how hot he looks.
