New photo Bizarre moment former MP VOMITS while holding a dead fish that was one of a million killed 'in man-made crisis'

The amusing moment a former Australian politician vomited over a dead fish has been captured on camera.

Former Greens MP, Jeremy Buckingham, was discussing the million fish killed this week in an alleged man-made crisis, in Menindee, central western New South Wales, when the stomach-churning situation occurred.

The 45-year-old was speaking to the camera about the mismanagement of water -which is thought to be to blame for two catastrophic fish kills in the space of a month, when he suddenly appeared to start feeling queasy.

In order to visually demonstrate the damage that had been caused, while he was speaking, Mr Buckingham held a rather hefty looking dead Murray cod.

Talking into the camera he, said: 'This is what you get when you leave the National Party in charge of water in Australia, dead fish, a massive stink…'

But before he could finish his sentence, he appeared overcome with nausea, and was heard uttering: 'I'm sorry I've got to stop'.

Evidently unwell, Mr Buckingham quickly drops the fish and scarpers off camera. But as the crew continue to film, he can be heard vomiting in the background.

While the other commentators attempt to press on in Mr Buckingham's absence the notable sound of him throwing up continues to be heard.

Deciding to address the awkward incident, one presenter says: 'I feel sorry for Jeremy I tell you…

'Poor b*****d I hope he survives,' he adds.

The amusing clip has since been shared on social media, and has already amassed more than 2,000 views.

Despite the comical incident, Mr Buckingham paid the lake a visit for a very serious reason.

Over the last month, two disasters have caused hundreds of thousands of dead fish to wash up along the banks of the Darling River.

Native species, including Bony Bream, Murray Cod and Perch are thought to have been just some of the breeds affected, according to ABC News.

The Murray Darling Basin Authority was established to manage the river system under a multi-billion-dollar plan agreed upon by the states the massive river system stretches across.

It has come under heavy criticism for allegedly allowing farms upstream to monopolise water resources.

Department of Primary Industries Fisheries Manager Iain Ellis told reporters this is the first time he's seen two such sad and shocking fish kills so close together.

'I've never seen two fish kills of this scale so close together in terms of time, especially in the same stretch of river,' he said

'In both cases it's when the algal bloom has been disrupted.'

'The first time due to a storm, and in this case, by the cold front that went through,' he explained.

Local residents have been taking to social media to share the devastating images of the lifeless fish.

One man took to his Facebook account to attribute the incident to the lack of water in the lakes.

'Fish still dying in the Darling at Menindee this morning 10's of thousands yesterday there be 100's of thousands if not in the Millions today,' he wrote.

'Menindee lakes were almost full less than two years ago now there's no water left.'

However, a spokesman from the Department of the Environment and Energy denied the fish kill was due to the mismanagement of water.

'A fish kill of this nature is always very distressing but the causes are directly related to the current drought and cease-to-flow conditions,' the spokesperson said.
