Gary Barlow has cancelled plans for Take That's world tour next year.

The much-loved 90s boyband had plans to tour all over the globe to mark their 30th anniversary, but will now stick to dates in the UK and Europe to ensure Gary can be close to home following a 'family illness'.

The singer, 47, told The Mirror that he is a 'little stuck at the moment' and 'cannot leave home', as he needs to be there for his loved ones.

Unexpected: Gary Barlow has cancelled plans for Take That's world tour next year due to a 'family illness', meaning he cannot be too far away from home

Gary explained that it has meant Take That's plans to take their tour to South America and Australia are now having to be revised.

Speaking to the publication, he said: 'We had a big ambition next year to do a world tour, but I have actually got an illness in my family and it means I am not going to travel for the next two years extensively.

'I thank my two bandmates who have been so very understanding, but I just have to be at home – I cannot leave.'

Gary added that he doesn't want fans to be left 'frustrated' by the news, asking them for their 'understanding' as he puts his family first.

'I didn’t want people getting frustrated that we’re not getting out there,' he said. 'I’m a little stuck at the moment, so please be understanding.'

Gary added that he is currently throwing himself into work, as he is planning to take 'a year's sabbatical' soon to focus on other projects, asides from music.

MailOnline have contacted a representative for Gary Barlow for comment.

His statement regarding Take That's upcoming tour comes just weeks after Robbie Williams confirmed he will be joining his former bandmates on stage on the road.

Speaking at the gala night of their new musical The Band in London, Robbie told Magic Radio he wanted to join Take That on stage next year at their respective UK tours.

Asked whether they would be joining forces for the upcoming 30th anniversary reunion, he said: 'As long as we stay healthy, I'm sure there'll be another moment where we all get together.'

'Maybe we can coax Jason back, who knows? We shall have to see,' teased the showman.

'But definitely, definitely in the future. We will all ride again,' confirmed Robbie.

While Take That embark on their 2019 tour, Robbie has his own solo tour to focus on, but insisted there would be plenty of opportunities for them to reunite on stage.

'Next year when the boys are on tour, I'm on tour too. If we're in the same place at the same time, there's an open mic at my gig,' asserted Robbie.

'There's only one, so send Gaz,' joked the Angels singer to Mark Owen, before adding: 'I'm sure there's an open mic at theirs too.'

Fresh from The X Factor final, Robbie had gushed to MailOnline that singing with Take That again had 'felt like home', while Gary joked his pal was back to his old habits of 'stealing the show' again.

Take That have treated fans to on/off reunions with Robbie over the years, despite the Let Me Entertain You singer leaving the band in 1995.

He quit to go solo five years after Take That first found fame, with the band calling it a day shortly after, following six years and three albums.

Take That later reformed in 2006, sans Robbie, and continued to garner major chart success; they have released a further five studio albums since reforming.

Robbie later returned to the group in 2010, recording album Progress with the rest of the band. They toured, before going on another hiatus - returning in 2014, this time without Robbie and fifth original member Jason Orange.
