New photo Could you adopt one of the UK's most unloved dogs for Christmas?

New puppies may be top of the Christmas list for many children across the UK this year, but one of the countries biggest animal charities is appealing to families to consider adoption instead.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London has launched an appeal to find forever homes for some of its longest standing residents

The animal shelter, which was founded in London in 1860, is trying to find new owners for dogs such as  Magic Mike, an eight year-old Shar-Pei, who has been living in is kennels for 133 days.

An average stay for a dog at the shelter is 38 days, but some struggle to find new owners because of their age or breed.

To achieve her kick-ass figure, Hayden – who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes – follows the ‘quartering’ rule. She eats only a quarter of the food on her plate, then waits 20 minutes before deciding whether she needs to eat again.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”

Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
