CORONATION Street’s Chris Gascoyne has sensationally said it would be “brilliant” if his character was killed off “drinking himself into oblivion”.
The actor, 50, who plays recovering alcoholic character Peter Barlow on the ITV soap, said the only way he could leave Weatherfield would be in a coffin, after drinking himself to death.
He said: “If they said to me that they were going to write Peter out or I told them that I was finished for good, he would have to drink himself to death.
“I don’t think it would be a very nice storyline, but it would be brilliant. Something tragic would happen and he falls off the wagon again and drinks himself into oblivion. I would like to do that.”
Despite talk of a potential cobbles departure for Peter, Chris added that he is not in any hurry to leave the Cobbles.
He added: “I’m not wanting to leave at all. I’m loving it at the moment – I’ve had a brilliant two-and-a-half years back.
