ALVARO MORATA would ‘return to Italy in a heartbeat’ as a move to AC Milan is reportedly on the cards.
It is understood the Chelsea flop, 26, is keen to leave the Premier League side after struggling since his £58million move last year.
According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are keen to offer the Spaniard an escape route out of Stamford Bridge.
But he may have to wait until the summer to get his move because Milan are believed to be unwilling to spend in January due to Financial Fair Play rules.
Morata spent two years in Italy at giants Juventus, scoring 27 goals in 93 appearances before returning to Real Madrid for one season and then signed for Chelsea.
AC Milan already have Gonzalo Higuain on loan for this season and are keen to give young striker Patrick Cutrone as much game time as possible.

Both Cutrone and Higuain have seven goals this season so far as Gennaro Gattuso’s side sit fourth in Serie A but crashed out of the Europa League group stages.
It is the same number Morata has bagged for Chelsea – his latest coming on November 4 – yet it is still widely considered a disappointing campaign from the Spaniard thus far.
Maurizio Sarri has left him out of the squad for the last two Premier League games, the victories over Manchester City and Brighton, with Eden Hazard playing in false No9 role.
And the Chelsea boss hinted he may utilise the Belgian star in the central role more often in the coming games.
He said: “I think that, for us, he [Hazard] could be very important in this position. He’s able to come out and play with his teammates, very able to create spaces.
“Now I think that, in that position, he has to improve in attacking the box.”
