New photo Boozy Brits hit the town for Black Eye Friday as Christmas cheer kicks in across the nation

BOOZY Christmas Brits were in the party spirit last night on the annual knees up known as Black Eye Friday.

Festive celebrations kicked off with a bang in Blackpool, Birmingham, and Cardiff with sore heads guaranteed for thousands of elves and Santas.

Some donned fancy costumes, others donned very little, despite a weekend washout ahead of Christmas Day.

Extra police were on the streets with some of that seasonal cheer expected to tip into punch ups and upset tummies.

Ambulances were also on high alert as staff spill out of office dos, pubs and clubs.

Paramedic Paul Turner, of the GMB union, warned: “It will be carnage.

“People will be out, battered on drink and drugs. Normally rational people suddenly don’t think twice about attacking ambulance staff.”

Some got a little too merry, and were snapped sitting on the rainy city streets being comforted by mates.

Others were seen being held back by police as the booze got the better of them.

More than a few filled their stockings with chips and greasy fast food.

One bloke dressed as Santa was seen happily scoffing a greasy kebab as he lined his stomach ahead of his great global present dash on Monday.

The wet weather didn’t deter the hardcore Chrimbo party people who turned out in their thousands.

Many of whom will be haunted by the spirits of Christmas past come tomorrow morning.

And while it was a cracker of night for many, some ended up St Nicked after brawling in front of officers.

It wasn’t all fisticuffs and lamb doners though – one couple were seen smooching in the streets as they let the seasonal mood sweep over them.

There were plenty of Christmas knitwear on show, although not all of it survived unscathed.

And while hundreds crammed into drizzly taxi queues, one lad gave his mate a literal lift home with an inebriated fireman’s carry.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”
