TWO beagles were left bloodsoaked with one needing a leg amputated after they were thrown from a moving car on a busy road.
The dogs, now named Trooper and Adam, were found by a lorry driver on Wednesday morning on Interstate 81 in Whitney Point outside Binghamton, New York after he saw them hurled from a vehicle.
State troopers stopped to help after they spotted the driver carrying one badly injured dog, with the second dog following behind.
A police officer bandaged the injured dog to stop the bleeding and splinted its leg while other troopers and the driver kept the second warm in a blanket.
The truck driver told state police he saw another driver slow down on the busy road, roll down the rear passenger window and throw the dogs out the window.
According to the Coloradoan, the witness said the vehicle was “very dirty” and had rust near the bumper.
After seeing the dogs hurled from the vehicle, the Good Samaritan stopped his truck immediately to recover the dogs.
The dogs, now named Trooper and Adam, are in the care of the Broome County Humane Society, who said both are recovering and that Trooper will get along fine on three legs once he is fully healed.
Amberly Ondria, shelter manager for the Broome County Humane Society said: “These animals have been through a lot, and people need to understand that this is not OK.
“This is not something that should be done.”

Troopers said the suspect vehicle is believed to be a Dodge Durango that was traveling south on I-81 between the Marathon and Whitney Point exit at approximately 9.30am on Wednesday.
Investigators said they hope a dash cam on the truck driver’s vehicle might have captured some of the incident, but no further leads have developed.
