New photo Ballon d’Or journalist whose votes were counted ‘does not exist’

A JOURNALIST whose votes were counted in the Ballon d’Or apparently does not even exist, reports claim.

Luka Modric won football’s greatest individual prize, which is awarded by France Football, earlier this week.

The magazine published a list of all the journalists who voted and their choices for the top five.

In between representatives from Cameroon and Denmark was a journalist from Comoros by the name of Abdou Boina.

Comoros is an island country in the Indian Ocean which lies between the eastern coast of Africa and Madagascar.

Boina was said to work for albaladcomores.com.

The journalist from Comoros is said to not even exist, it has been claimed

But a former sports photographer who reportedly worked for the paper claims no one called Abdou Boina ever worked there.

Toimimou Abdou told alwatwan.net: “I am surprised to see that the daily Albalad Comoros exists.

“That I know and this is the reality: this newspaper is closed for almost six years. There has never been a reporter named Abdou Boina.

“We had two sports reporters, in this case, Abdoul Youssouf for the French edition and Sharif Ousseine for the Arabic edition.”

On top of this, the flag France Football used to represent Comoros is outdated and was apparently last used some 17 years ago.

Comoros Football Federation’s Fayssoile Moussa said: “I can understand that the Comoran juror, Abdou Boina, is a freelance journalist or a consultant.

“But that he is presented as coming from the daily Albalad Comoros is contempt of the country especially when France Football presents the country with a flag which does not exist for 17 years.”

The Ballon d’Or ceremony descended into farce when women’s winner Ada Hegerberg stormed off stage after being asked to twerk by host Martin Solveig.

The DJ later apologised for his comments, with Norway star Hegerberg insisting the crude comment was not “sexual harassment”.

A journalist from Trinidad and Tobago also claimed the vote was tallied up incorrectly.
