A grandmother has died 'from a broken heart' due to the guilt and devastation she felt after accidentally hitting and killing a six-year-old schoolgirl with her car.
Miriam Grace Paton, 86, was charged with dangerous driving causing death after she reversed into Indie Armstrong at a car park on Queensland's Sunshine Coast on June 17.
Indie had been crossing with her seven-year-old sister Lily and her grandmother Sandy Bampton, 57, who were also injured in the collision.
The elderly driver's tragic final words to her husband were: 'I've killed a child and I don't want to live anymore'.

Mrs Paton - who had worked as a primary school teacher for 50 years - was taken to hospital with lower back pain and a 'lumbar crush fracture' two days after the crash.
She later developed pneumonia and missed a number of court dates, the most recent being on Friday.
Her husband Stuart, 90, told the Courier-Mail his wife loved children her entire life, and could no longer live with the heartbreak of being responsible for Indie's death.
'She was heartbroken, she could not bear the thought of having caused the little girl's death. She wanted to die,' Mr Paton told the publication.
Mrs Paton's lawyer and friend Peter Boyce said she died at midnight on Wednesday, leaving hospital staff 'in tears'.
'She was a lovely lady, very kind and gentle, but strong minded,' Mr Boyce said.

Mr Paton said the accident in June was the only time his wife had been in trouble with the law.
Indie's father Jason said he had been told about Mrs Paton's death.
'We really have nothing more to say. No words are going to bring her back. This has been an incredibly rough time,' he said.

In a heartbreaking moment during the service, her parents shared a letter remembering Indie as a free spirit who lit up their life and was loved 'to the moon and back'.

'Indie Rose, my beautiful baby girl you came into the world so peacefully,' her mother said.
'You were our ray of sunshine, you brought so much joy to us. You were crazy, fun, with the biggest heart. Your kindness was radiant, you were a caring friend and you were a loving sister who always looked out for (her siblings) Sunny and Lily.'
The six-year-old always looked at the 'bright side of life' and loved swimming in the ocean, catching crabs, jumping waves and swinging in frangipani trees with an infectious enthusiasm for life, her mother said during the service.
The primary school girl was described as the 'spark' of the family who enjoyed putting on dancing shows for her loved ones and helping her dad in the shed.
