RELEGATE clubs whose fans racially abuse players, says former France and Tottenham defender Pascal Chimbonda.
A catalogue of episodes of discrimination in recent weeks have sparked debate over how to combat such behaviour.

England players Raheem Sterling, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Danny Rose were all subjected to monkey chants during the Euro 2020 qualifier in Montenegro last month.
Rose has since admitted the growing levels of abuse means he “can’t wait” to “get out” of the game.
Just this week, Moise Kean was verbally assaulted in a similar way in Juventus’ win at Cagliari.
The incident in the Serie A clash was accentuated by manager Max Allegri and defender Leonardo Bonucci both suggesting Kean was partly at blame for the abuse.
WALK-OUT
Football’s lawmakers can currently issue part or full stadium bans and fines to teams guilty of such offences.
But those sanctions have not proven effective in ridding the game of racial prejudice.
Managers Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino have offered their support, but currently there is no guarantee such an act would go unpunished.
You play a full season with no fans and they will start to think about it
Pascal Chimbonda
According to Chimbonda – who fled his native France in the wake of swathes of abuse – hitting teams with demotion might be the only way forward.
The 40-year-old told BBC World Service: “No one does anything against it. I wanted to run off the pitch.
“This has been happening for so many years and you see nothing ever happens.
“They [governing bodies] have an advert, they fight against racists but it never stops.
“So they have to do big things now and show they really want to stop it.
