New photo D-Day memorial stamps are among the commemorative sets to be issued in 2019

Images to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings are among the commemorative stamps being issued in 2019.

A set of 11 stamps will be published ready for the anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

The operation – which began the liberation of France from the Nazis – laid the foundations for the defeat of Germany across Europe. 

The subjects of other stamps being issued by the Royal Mail next year include birds of prey, Victoria and Albert, British engineering, the Royal Navy and forests.
