"Many Photos" - Poundland puts Christmas goodies on sale three weeks ahead of Easter

With three weeks still to go until Easter, Christmas seems a million miles away to most shoppers. 

But that didn't stop discount retailer Poundland from stocking the first of its festive products this week. 

After noticing the 'Santa please stop here' doormats the store was displaying in March, Lynne Barrow posted a photograph to Facebook. 

Poundland has been stocking Christmas products three weeks ahead of Easter and 270 days before the big day 

'I think Poundland are getting in early for Christmas,' she wrote on the Poundland Appreciation Society, which has 28,000 members. 

Every year some high street stores are usually ridiculed for putting out early Christmas displays - but these usually start in September, not March. 

The premature products were stocked alongside items for Mother's Day, but while that celebration takes place this Sunday, there are still a huge 270 days to go until Christmas.  

Dozens of confused shoppers have commented on Lynne's post, with some confessing to having bought the £1 accessories. 

'I think Poundland are getting in early for Christmas,' wrote one shopper a Facebook appreciation group for the store group, which 28,000 members

'This Christmas malarky is getting earlier and earlier every year,' wrote Lorraine Dowler. 

Alexandria Watson suggested they were just trying to flog the stock they wanted to get rid of.

The mats are being sold at Poundland's across the UK.
