JANE Danson’s Coronation Street character, Leanne Batterby, has been through her fair share of gripping story lines in over 16 years on the soap.

Who is Jane Danson?
Jane Danson was born with the name Jane Dawson in 1978 and made her TV debut at the tender age of 11, thanks to a role in British drama, G.B.H.
She then went on to star in the ITV children’s drama, Children’s Ward from 1995 until 1997 before landing a part in period drama series, The Grand.
Jane also starred in BBC’s Hetty Wainthropp Investigates in 1996.
How long has Jane Danson played Leanne Battersby on Coronation Street?
Jane Danson first played Leanne Battersby from 1997 when the Battersby family made a huge impact on the soap, being dubbed the “Neighbours From Hell”.
However, Jane took a break from the role in 2000 as viewers saw the long-suffering barmaid decide to leave after a near-fatal run-in with Jez Quigley.
Jane rejoined the soap again in 2004 before having to take another short stint off the drama when she fell pregnant in 2006.
Leanne was at the heart of a huge storyline which saw her have a baby with cabbie Steve McDonald – the husband of her best mate Michelle Connor.
She frequently has run-ins with her nemesis Tracy Barlow.
What other shows has Jane Danson starred in?
Jane went on to a play a nurse on drama series, A&E, before joining the cast of The Bill in 2002.
She portrayed the show’s first lesbian police officer, Gemma Osbourne, but the part was short-lived.
Jane appeared in the first celebrity edition of Stars in Their Eyes where she joined her Corrie co-stars to impersonate the Spice Girls.
She also appeared in the second series of Soapstar Superstar in January 2002.
Will Jane be appearing on Dancing On Ice?
In October 2018 it was revealed Jane would be appearing on Dancing On Ice 2019.
She revealed she would continue to play Leanne Battersby but would be scaling back her work.
Talking about joining the show, Jane said: “I’ve got a big birthday next month so I’m seeing it as a challenge for the fab 40. I’m just looking forward to it and trying not to think about being damaged. It’s been a bit of a life long dream.”

Is Jane Danson married?
Jane began dating former Brookside actor Robert Beck in 1999 and the pair tied the knot in December 2005.
The couple welcomed their first child, Harry Alexander Jack, in July 2006.
They then had a second son, Sam Alfie Robert, in February 2009.
When will Dancing on Ice 2019 start?
Dancing on Ice 2019 returns to ITV this Sunday, January 6 at 6pm and lasts two hours.
Phillip Schofield will be back to present the hit show once more alongside Holly Willoughby, who revealed the news of the show’s return live on This Morning in late January.
Skating icons and current judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will return as judges, alongside Jason Gardiner and Ashley Banjo.
The next series is set to reunite Jason and Karen Barber seven years after their heated on-air row after former Olympic skater Karen has landed the role of head coach.
“Having been involved with the show since its very first series, it holds a lot of special memories to me and I’m looking forward to working with this year’s celebrities as we start transforming them into skating stars,” she said.
