The heart-stopping moment a paraglider is suddenly swept into the air by a dirt devil has been caught on camera. 

Footage shows the experienced paraglider being pummeled in the air by high winds at Mount Borah, NSW, as his wife screams in terror from the ground as she films him. 

The man, a visitor from abroad, was caught in a monster dust storm, but fortunately came away from the incident unscathed.

He had been preparing for a flight in Manilla, near Tamworth, on Wednesday.

His frenzied wife can be heard screaming her husband's name and desperately asking: 'Is he ok?'

Other pilots can be seen watching on from the ground before rushing to set out landing mats.  

Chief Flying Instructor at Manilla Paragliding Godfrey Wenness told Storyful: 'The pilot quickly regained control of the glider and flew away to continue on a relatively uneventful five hour and 180km cross country flight.

'The pilot was uninjured by the incident. The paraglider was undamaged. The video was taken by his wife who is also a pilot.

'Dust devils are the visible rotating core of intense updrafts of air and typically occur on hot dry days in certain atmospheric conditions.'
