Serial killer Peter Tobin is reportedly too frail to leave his cell after being struck down by cancer. 

The 72-year-old Scot, from Paisley, is currently in prison serving three life sentences after he murdered three young women between 1991 and 2006.

Although he has faked a number of illnesses in the past, a prison source told the Daily Record he only leaves HMP Edinburgh to visit the hospital. 

Now the families of his victims are hoping he will confess to more murders, having previously refused to cooperate with police.

Dan McNicol, whose sister Dinah was killed in August 1991, said: 'I hope he finds something in himself to tell the truth about what else he has done and other women he has killed so their families have some closure.'

He added that he hopes the killer - who once said he 'couldn't give a f****' about victims' families - is suffering from the disease.

Mr McNicol said: 'I don’t want him to die – I want him to live to be 100 so he is suffering like he made his victims suffer.' 

Tobin is serving a life sentence for raping and murdering Polish student Angelika Kluk, 23, and hiding her body under the floor of a Glasgow church in 2006.

He has also been convicted of murdering 15-year-old schoolgirl Vicky Hamilton, from Redding, near Falkirk, in 1991, and 18-year-old Dinah McNicol in the same year.

Their bodies were found 17 years later, buried in the garden of his former home in Margate, Kent. 

Tobin has repeatedly faked illnesses in the past, even pretending to be dead in his cell in 2012.

That year it was reported that Tobin had run up medical bills of £15,000, including £200 on a special toilet seat after he claimed to have a bad back.

His trial in 2009 for murdering Ms McNicol was also interrupted three times when he was taken out of Chelmsford Crown Court complaining of having chest pains and shingles.

Tobin was slashed in the face with a razor blade back in 2015, leaving him with an 8in scar.

At the time, Vicky Hamilton's father, Michael, said: 'Nothing will bring my daughter back but every attack on Tobin takes him a bit closer to real justice. I have almost died five times but I’m still here so I’m still hoping I outlive that evil b******.'

Tobin has been linked to the notorious 'Bible John' murders in Glasgow between 1968 and 1969, and Louise Kay in 1988.
