The Chloé maxi dress in a delicate shade of lilac, worn by the likes of Emma Thompson and Rachel Weisz, remains on sale for less than £200.

The Parisian fashion house regularly sees shoppers queuing around the block for their Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter releases, but the mystery donor was more than willing to give it up for a good cause.

Joe Metcalfe, who founded the site, said: 'When we received this donation we were shocked. We sold a Louis Vuitton bag within minutes of uploading it.'

Thrift+ donates 50 per cent of every sale to charity, and aims to raise 10 times more than a charity shop.

The average price of an item sold on their website is £19 - £9 more than at physical thrift stores. The money raised from this donation is set to top anything the site have ever recorded before.

Contributors send in their items for free, and the team list the items online, before giving 25 per cent of each sale to whoever sent in their clothes.

In this case, the anonymous donor waived their fee - meaning at least 75 per cent of the proceeds will go to Dress For Success.

The charity helps women who are preparing for their first job interviews.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”
