THERE’s still a long road back to normality for Mick and Linda Carter in EastEnders following his release from prison as the pub landlord gives his wife more cause for concern this week.
As the week in Weatherfield kicks off, Linda is left worrying when Mick refuses to speak to their son Johnny.
Things then go from bad to worse for Mick – who’s played by Danny Dyer in the BBC One soap – when Megan arrives and complains that the kids’ football team has folded.
Mick and Megan are soon at loggerheads and Linda enjoys seeing her husband wound up because Megan reminds her of their daughter, Nancy.
Later, as Mick plays football with his little son Ollie, Megan winds him up some more by showing up his coaching techniques.
With Megan still hanging around Mick realises he’s fighting a losing battle and finally caves, agreeing to start coaching the kids’ team again.
Feeling positive after a fun day with Ollie, Mick asks Linda – Kellie Bright – to call Nancy and Johnny.
EastEnders fans have been concerned about Mick since he was released from prison on Christmas Eve.
The usually happy-go-lucky landlord has been a shadow of his former self, snappy and grumpy, leading viewers speculating about what went on while he was behind bars.
He left fans troubled last week when he aggressively grabbed a young girl who had accidentally kicked a ball through the window of the Queen Vic pub.
He ran out of the pub with the girl’s popped football and aggressively grabbed her arm.
She screamed for him to let go, but he refused and demanded to know where her parents were.
His behaviour infuriated fans who felt it was out of character for Mick who is usually kind, especially with children.
One viewer wrote: “Mick calm down she’s a little girl! #EastEnders xx”

However, the scenes will lead into the show looking at Mick’s state of mind since he was freed from prison.
He will soon break down to wife Linda and confess that he experienced a harrowing experience in prison that’s left him utterly traumatised.
Viewers have watched him pull away from Linda and avoid any intimacy with his wife but they had no idea how dark his experiences were.
