MEMBERS of an Indonesian pop band are dead or missing after a tsunami struck the beach where they were performing.
The tsunami, sparked by the infamous volcano Krakatoa erupting last night, has killed at least 168 people in Indonesia.
A further 745 are injured and at least 30 missing after the enormous sea swell smashed 65ft inland around the Sunda Strait just before 9.30pm on Saturday.
Footage posted on social media showed a pop band named “Seventeen” performing under a tent on the shore of Tanjung Lesung Beach at 9.30pm, as dozens of people sat listening at tables.
Then, in between songs while the drummer was pounding, the stage suddenly heaved forward, throwing the band and all their equipment into the audience.
The band has released a statement saying their bass player, M.Awal Purbani, also known as Bani, and road manager Oki Wijaya were later found dead.
Seventeen is still looking for four people who remain missing – the guitarist, drummer, a crew member and the wife of singer Ifan.

Officials said the tsunami was likely caused by undersea landslides after Krakatoa exploded – sending molten lava and ash spewing more than 500 yards into the air.
The Sunda Strait – between the islands of Java and Sumatra – connects the Java Sea to the Indian Ocean.
A spokesman for the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) said coastal areas have been levelled – and warned the death toll is likely to rise.
Among the destroyed buildings were at least 430 houses and nine hotels – while 10 ships were also wrecked.
TV footage showed roads blocked by debris from damaged houses, overturned cars and fallen trees.
The water washed away an outdoor stage where a local rock band was performing.
A statement from the band revealed their bass player and road manager were among the victims – while four other members were missing.
Authorities warned residents and tourists in coastal areas around the Sunda Strait to stay away from beaches and a high-tide warning remained in place through to till December 25.

Rahmat Triyono, head of the meteorological agency, said: “Please do not be around the beaches around the Sunda Strait. Those who have evacuated, please do not return yet.”
Australian PM Scott Morrison said his country stood ready to help in the relief effort.
He said: “As always, we’re always available to support the Indonesian government with these things.”
No foreigners are known to have been caught up in the carnage, Mr Morrison later said.

It comes almost 14 years to the day since the Boxing Day 2004 tsunami killed 226,000 people in 13 countries, including more than 120,000 in Indonesia.
That apocalyptic disaster was caused by a huge earthquake under the Indian Ocean.
Last night, a survivor told how he was taking pictures of a volcano when he suddenly saw a huge wave hurtling towards him.
Norwegian tourist Oystein Lund Andersen told the BBC: “I was on the beach. I was alone, my family were sleeping in a room.
“I was trying to photograph the erupting Krakatoa volcano.
“Earlier in the evening, there was quite heavy eruption activity.
“But just prior to the waves hitting the beach, there was no activity at all. It was just dark out there.
“And suddenly I saw this wave coming, and I had to run.
“There were two waves. The first wave wasn’t that strong – I could run from it.

Anderson said that authorities believe the tsunami was caused by the volcanic eruption that he was photographing.
He wrote on Facebook: “So encountered my first tsunami it seems, hopefully my last.”
Endan Permana, head of the disaster mitigation agency in Pandeglang, told Metro TV police were providing assistance to victims in the tourist area of Tanjung Lesung in Banten province.
She warned: “Many are missing”.
Dramatic TV footage showed the seconds when waves hit a concert at an event for state utility company PLN – washing away the stage where local rock band Seventeen was performing.

In a statement, the band said: “The water washed away the stage which was located very close to the sea.
“The water rose and dragged away everyone at the location.
“We have lost loved ones, including our bassist and manager… and others are missing.”
The disaster mitigation agency said it was still compiling information on the disaster and there was a “possibility that data on the victims and damage will increase”.
A spokesman said the tsunami was caused by “an undersea landslide resulting from volcanic activity on Anak Krakatau”.
It was made all the more powerful by abnormally high tide because of the current full moon.
The day the earth shook: The 1883 eruption of Krakatoa
IN August 1883, the world experienced what experts believe was the strongest and most violent eruption in recorded history.
The explosion of Krakatoa sent tsunamis with waves up to 135ft across the ocean – killing more than 30,000 people.
Thousands more were suffocated by hot ash raining from the sky.
The eruptions were equivalent to 200 megatons of TNT – about 13,000 times the nuclear yield of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945.
They were also heard thousands of miles away – and are believed to be the loudest noises ever experienced in human history.
World temperatures dropped by more than 1C the following year due to the ash clouds in the atmosphere blocking the sun.
The island that Krakatoa stood on virtually disappeared.
