OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER believes he can talk contract rebels David De Gea and Anthony Martial into staying at Manchester United.

But United’s interim boss intends to have talks with both players with the message that they should stay and make history at the club.

The situations with De Gea and Martial became so desperate that United were forced to trigger 12-month options in both players’ contracts to stop them becoming free agents next summer.

Indeed, both would have to be sold by then if the five-year deals on the table are not signed.

But Solskjaer — who rejected a chance to leave United for Spurs in 1998 — is hopeful it will not come to that.

He said: “I know the club want them to sign, of course, because they are top-quality players.

“It’s down to the players but when you’re at Man United there isn’t a lot of greener grass on the other side.

“You are at the best place. It’s the biggest club in the world.
