New photo I don’t want to be in the same room as cheating father at Christmas

DEAR DEIDRE: WE are spending Christmas with my parents but I can’t stand the thought of being in the same room with my dad.

I am 28 and have a lovely husband and a daughter aged six.

My parents weren’t happily married and my sister and I suspected Dad was cheating.

Years ago she walked in on him with someone at home and it added to our shock that it was with another man.

We told Mum but Dad convinced her to let him stay. We now know he threatened to end his life.

Recently I called round unexpectedly and saw him getting into his car with another man.

I don’t mind him being gay, it’s the deceit I can’t stand. I feel my whole life has been based on a sham.

My sister is married now too and she feels the same, but if we say something it will tear everything apart.

DEIDRE SAYS: Tell your dad privately how upset you were by what you saw, but the person whose feelings most matter now are your mum’s.

I bet she has a good idea what is going on. It’s their relationship and maybe she understands that it can’t have been easy for your dad over the years either.

You and your sister are still smarting from the fall-out when you were children.

Talk it over with FFLAG – Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (fflag.org.uk, 0845 652 0311).

To achieve her kick-ass figure, Hayden – who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes – follows the ‘quartering’ rule. She eats only a quarter of the food on her plate, then waits 20 minutes before deciding whether she needs to eat again.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”

SATC star Kim swears by gym sessions with Russian kettle bells (traditional cast-iron weights) and the South Beach Diet to give her the body she wants. To avoid overeating, Kim has a radical diet trick – squirting lemon juice on her leftovers – so she won’t carry on picking.

Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
