CHERYL has been defended by her Greatest Dancer co-star Matthew Morrison after she was blasted for having very little dance experience.
She is one of the judges on the new BBC show, alongside Matthew and Oti Mabuse, and has been targeted for not having a dance background.
Yesterday, Jason Gardiner mocked Cheryl’s lack of experience and said her parents had only sent her to the Royal Ballet to give them a break over the summer holidays.
Now former Glee star Matthew, 40, has hit out on her behalf and told The Mirror: “It’s awful. I couldn’t imagine being in her shoes and having all that crap people talk.”
“This stuff rolls off her back. She doesn’t pay any attention to it.”
Tensions between Cheryl and her co-star Oti, 28, were revealed by The Sun earlier this month.
But Matthew insisted he got on fine with the 34-year-old singer, whose mum to 18-month-old Bear, and said they bonded over their experience of having children.
Matthew, who has a one-year-old son, added: “It’s really been great to connect as new parents.”
Cheryl spoke out about the criticism levelled at her today in an exclusive interview in The Sun and admitted she had the “least dance experience”.
She explained: “They’ve had really long careers in dance and in performing arts.
He admitted they had been discussing their tots behind the scenes of the new BBC series[/caption]
“Mentoring other people one-on-one like I did on X Factor might help me with the mentality of how things go. But in terms of knowledge and stuff, they’re more than qualified.”
The thing I was probably most experienced with was, I went to summer school at the Royal Ballet when I was nine… and now I’m like 35.
