Telling girls to wear skirts to school is 'old-fashioned', BBC DJ Sara Cox has claimed.

The 44-year-old, who takes over the Radio 2 drivetime show in January, believes all pupils should wear trousers.

The mother-of-three, below, said her 14-year-old daughter wears trousers to school and wishes she could have done the same, but was given no choice.

'I think everyone should be in trousers. Girls, too,' she told The Sunday Times.
