WE’RE all revving up for the new year celebrations. But don’t stop there – it’s time for a revolution resolution that will make 2019 a year to remember.
We preview some of the motors that will tempt you when they hit showrooms in the months ahead.
BMW Z4
The BMW Z4 has a new muscular design and a range of punchy engines[/caption]
When: March
How much: £36,000
WE have already seen the finished form and it’s truly a thing of beauty.
The “hairdresser” image of the last version has been well and truly killed off, with a much more muscular look and a range of punchy engines designed to take sales from the Porsche 718 Cayman.
The fastest version — the Z4 M40i — will do 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and boast a top speed of 155mph.
Even the 2-litre entry version will be good for 197bhp, doing the 0-62 sprint in 6.6 seconds. A true driver’s car.
Citroen C5 Aircross

When: February
How much: £23,225
Early intel suggests it has the chops to shake up the crowded segment.
With a modest entry price and plenty of standard tech, including hydraulic suspension, the C5 Aircross is a tasty prospect.
Choose from a spirited 1.2-litre petrol engine or a 1.5-litre diesel, which both produce 128bhp. A 181bhp 1.6-litre petrol will also be available.
The “magic carpet ride” suspension system works well in the C4 Cactus and having it as standard is a classy move.
Toyota Supra
When: Summer
How much: Around £50,000
I can’t remember the last time a car had this much hype attached to it but Toyota is confident the new Supra will more than live up to it.
Developed in conjunction with the BMW Z4, it will be powered by the 3-litre, 340bhp engine found in the range-topping Beamer and make the 0-62 dash in less than five seconds.
The Supra will give potential Porsche Cayman buyers something else to think about and, best of all, the Supra will have 50:50 weight distribution and weight just 1,500kg.
So it will handle like Lionel Messi.
Mini EV
When: Autumn
How much: Around £26,000
Though Mini first trialled fully electric cars in 2007, it is only now ready to sell a 100 per cent green motor.
There is only one question to ask of an EV: How far will it go before the battery runs flat?
The EV should manage around 200 miles on a full charge — ahead of the Renault Zoe and Nissan Leaf.
It looks superb too, keeping futuristic design features from the concept unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show.
Hyundai i30N Fastback
When: February
How much: Around £28,000
The Hyundai i30N was one of the standouts of 2018 and the Korean firm hopes to build on that success with this longer, prettier version.
The Fastback boasts the same peppy performance and value-for-money engineering as the hatchback and has a 450-litre capacity boot.
From the front the car is the same, but the rear has a subtle spoiler and clean, sweeping lines.
Will do 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds, topping out at 155mph.
Audi Q4
When: Summer
How much: Around £28,000
IT’S not easy to keep up — but Audi is dropping yet another Q-badged SUV/crossover next year.
The mid-sized Q4 will compete against big sellers such as the Range Rover Evoque, with eye-catching coupe styling rather than the boxier looks of the Q3 and Q5.
A new 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine has been confirmed, plus a more powerful 2.5 litre petrol.
A hybrid version is in the pipeline too.

To achieve her kick-ass figure, Hayden – who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes – follows the ‘quartering’ rule. She eats only a quarter of the food on her plate, then waits 20 minutes before deciding whether she needs to eat again.
Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”
Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”

Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
