New photo Showbox not working – has the movie and TV streaming app been closed down?

THE Showbox app, which provides a free way to watch the latest TV shows and films, appears to be not working.

Users are seeing an error message and there are reports it has been shut down – but these have yet to be confirmed.

Has the movie and TV streaming service been shut down?

The status of the app is currently shrouded in mystery as people who have tried to open the app have reported they just get a message saying the app has broken and to check the internet connection.

The message reads: “Connection error. Check your internet connection!”

There has been no indication whether or not the connection failure is permanent or just a temporary glitch.

Other sites appear to be offering a download of the app, but these have not been verified.

MovieBox, a similar streaming website, was shut down earlier this week.

Showbox, which is the film investment, production and distribution arm of Mediaplex Inc, provides a platform for sharing films and TV shows that it does not necessarily have the rights to in a similar way to Popcorn Time.

Popcorn Time has come under pressure from Hollywood over its service but it has continually popped back up at different addresses.
