DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE a partner yet I’ve been having hot sex with a man almost double my age . . . and I don’t feel in the least bit guilty.
I’m 23. My 26-year-old partner pays lip service to me, telling me what I want to hear without any real feeling.
We’ve been together for three years and we have a one-year-old daughter.
Our relationship has gone downhill. We are more like friends.
I work long days yet give him foot massages to show him I love him.
I text him during the day but I get no reply. I say, “I love you”. He replies, “You too”. It doesn’t sound like he means it.
When we have sex, it is almost a case of, “Brace yourself”, because there are no kisses or cuddles — nothing.
We never go out. If I suggest anything, he refuses.
I work in my dad’s newsagents and take my daughter with me. A guy delivers our magazines.
He’s handsome and married — and almost twice my age at 45.
He came in a few months ago and some teenagers were hassling me, wanting fags without showing IDs. I was arguing with them and he told them to stop threatening me and chucked them out.
They had been intimidating and I was shaken up. He made me some tea and gave me a hug.
He pulled my chin up towards his and kissed away my tears then kissed me on the mouth. It felt wonderful.
He invited me to his place that night as his wife was away. I told my partner I was visiting a friend and he looked after our little girl.
We started kissing as soon as I got in the door and then we had sex.
He was the most considerate lover. I’d never experienced anything like it.
I now see this guy regularly and he gives me everything I’ve ever wanted in a relationship.
He’s passionate about life and about me. I think I love him.
I’m supposed to be marrying my partner but I’m not excited, I’m scared.
This man has made me see what life could be like with somebody who really makes me feel appreciated.
