A LUCKY driver walked away with just a scratched nose after a fence post skewered his windscreen when he crashed in snow yesterday.

Jordan Middleton-Moore, 24, thanked his “guardian angel” after the 6ft wooden stake came within inches of killing him.

Stunned Jordan, who repeatedly rolled after clipping a kerb and losing control, sat shivering after coming to a standstill — before filming how close he had come to death.

Footage shows blood trickling from his nose wound, with the post resting between the driver and passenger seats. His escape came as snow fell across the UK, hitting swathes of the North and even parts of the South, including Brighton.

Jordan, of Sheffield, was doing 55mph on the Woodhead Pass in the Peak District when he was hit by a whiteout. He said: “It was the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced. I should be dead. The post narrowly missed my head.”

Motorists were also warned of hazardous conditions in other parts of the Peak District and Pennines.

In the South, rail passengers faced delays because of ice.

Temperatures were forecast to rise from -5C in the South last night towards the 10C November average today.
