ANTOINE GRIEZMANN may have won the World Cup with France, but he has a special place in his heart for Uruguay too.
The Atletico Madrid forward has spoken recently about how he feels ‘half Uruguayan’ so to honour his national side’s clash with the South American side, he has had a special pair of boots made.
Griezmann took to Twitter to share a snap of his customised boots, which has the French flag on the side and sole of the right boot and the Uruguayan on the left.
His sponsors Puma created the boots for the World Cup winner, which Griezmann called ‘a special pair of boots for a special game’ and feature a gold outline to depict the shape of both France and Uruguay.
With several former Urguyaan team-mates, Griezmann learnt the art of perfecting mate tea and has paid homage to the drink on his boots by having the traditional pot and straw feature prominently.
Not one to shy away from his achievements, Griezmann got two stars put on the French flag on his boots to represent the two World Cups that his country have won.

Griezmann’s love for Uruguay goes back several years to when the forward was at Real Sociedad.
His manager was Martin Lasarte, a proud Urugyuan, who had such a positive impact on the star that they are still firm friends.
During his time with Sociedad, Griezmann felt an emotional connection to the country and the Uruguayn people’s values.
He even began watching and supporting Uruguayan league matches.
But what Griezmann believes he likes most is the incredibly fighting mentality, or spirit, that Uruguyans have in them.
Speaking to ESPN, he said: “They all play together, for each other. It is beautiful because I experience it every day at Atletico. I love it.
“It is Edinson Cavani’s style who defends and attacks, with Paris like with Uruguay.
“In the way I think, he is the best striker. He makes 10,000 runs for the ball, never gives up and only needs one or two touches to shoot in the box
“What makes me Uruguayan is that I have the style of Diego Godinand Cavani, who give everything, never give up and make the efforts for their teammates.”
Godin and Griezmann are very close, so much so that Godin is the French star’s daughter’s godfather.
He added: “Godin made me want to sign for Atletico.
“He is my best friend, we are always together, at training or outside of football.
“It is more difficult to play against a friend because he knows everything about me, like I know everything about him.”
France faced Uruguay in the quarter finals at the World Cup this summer and beat them 2-0.
Griezmann found the back of the net in the fixture and will hope their meeting tomorrow is just as special.
