The Irishman will not be considered the most diehard of football fans, having previously stated that his youth was more about playing the sport than watching it.

But, McGregor did clarify that he was a Manchester United supporter, with tradition passed down through generations.

The 30-year-old had said that in Ireland, the majority cheer on either the red of United or the red of Liverpool.

Who is McGregor’s favourite player?

The Irishman has a few favourites, most of whom are from his country.

Roy Keane is the first, not only due to his Irish blood, but as well for his Man United affiliation.

His namesake, Robbie, makes McGregor’s list, purely for his exploits for Ireland as their all-time top scorer.

The Irishman’s other favourite is current Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

McGregor previously told Independent.ie: “Ronaldo is a phenomenal athlete. His speed, his takeoff from a standing start and his ability to operate at high speeds are impressive.”
