Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was in pensive mood as he left the Lowry hotel on Saturday.

There has been a considerable amount of speculation regarding Mourinho's future after he oversaw a wretched run of four games without a victory in all competitions.

However, it has since emerged that United will stand by Mourinho for now and will give the 55-year-old more time to turn around the situation.

Mourinho's side host Newcastle on Saturday evening as they look for a much-needed victory.

The Portuguese posed for a picture with a fan outside The Lowry but, understandably, looked rather concerned having overseen United's worst start to a season in 29 years. 

United's hugely concerning run of form commenced with a 1-1 draw against Wolves before they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Derby.

Subsequently, United were beaten by West Ham and were then held to a goalless draw by Valencia. 

Mourinho's situation has also not been helped by off the field problems, including his strained relationship with Paul Pogba.
