CRYSTAL PALACE winger Wilfried Zaha has been compared to Lionel Messi, by his former boss Frank de Boer.

Despite struggling to make an impact last night at the Vitality Stadium as the Eagles lost to Bournemouth, Zaha has been the main man for Roy Hodgson’s side so far this term.

De Boer only lasted four months at Selhurst Park, but that was enough for the 25-year-old’s dribbling ability to make a huge impression on the Dutchman putting Zaha up there with the Barcelona superstar.

He told Sky Sports: “What he has is a half-step, you think as a defender you’re going to touch the ball but he’s so quick with it, he can make a half step, that he touches it with his other leg and you think you have the ball and you kick him.

“Like Messi, always every pass or every step he can touch the ball.

“Right foot or left foot, Zaha has that same quality, every step he can touch the ball and then you get a lot of kicks.
