Network Ten offered former Channel Nine star Lisa Wilkinson a rumoured $2million contract to anchor its new show, The Sunday Project.

But despite spending eight months hosting the show and enjoying numerous overseas trips interviewing celebrities, Lisa still hasn't delivered ratings success.

Ten, which was bought by CBS in August 2017, has showed a noticeable decline in the ratings since January - the same month Lisa debuted on The Sunday Project.

According to the latest OzTam ratings, the Sunday Project fell to thirteenth place in the prime time slot, with just 312,000 metro viewers tuning in. 

By contrast, a solid 481,000 metro viewers tuned in to watch Lisa mark her territory on the show back in January.

Speaking to Who magazine following a bout of particularly disastrous ratings in April, Lisa insisted she wasn't focusing on the numbers.

'In the end, I just want to do good work and the rest will follow,' she said. 

'We're bedding down particularly The Sunday Project at the moment and working out the best mix for the show and one of the wonderful things about going to The Project is the trust that people have in the journalism.

'They trust us in my experience more than any other interview program on Australian television.'

Indeed, Lisa has been putting her expertise to good use since signing with Channel Ten, having recently embarked upon her fourth overseas assignment in just seven months.

Taking to Instagram earlier this month to document her newest adventure to New York, Lisa shared a selfie while standing in front of a departures board. 

'Hey QF11, wait for me! Heading for the US for the most amazing round of interviews for the Sunday @theprojecttv - can you guess who with?' she wrote in the caption.'

It's the third trip the veteran presenter has taken to America for work this year.

She flew to Las Vegas in February to interview Celine Dion, before jetting to New York in April for a one-on-one chat with Amy Schumer. 

She also travelled to Britain in May to cover the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Clearly bitten by the travel bug, Lisa also took holiday leave to embark on a lavish European getaway with her husband Peter FitzSimons in August.
