RUPAUL’S Drag Race fans are thrilled after the long-running show finally won the Emmy for best reality series.

The competition – which sees drag queens compete to prove which has the necessary charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to become America’s Next drag superstar – is in its 10th season and has only just won acclaim.

RuPaul had the audience in stitches with his speech

Ru took home the Emmy for best reality show host at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month, making history in the process.

Legendary drag queen RuPaul took to the stage to accept the award with his co-star judges and the show’s crew.

Thanking the cast and crew, including Celebrity Big Brother star Michelle Visage, he ended his speech by saying: ““If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else? Can I get an Amen?”

Viewers were thrilled at the win and flocked to Twitter to share their praise.

The cast and crew made herstory by winning the big two reality TV awards at the Emmys

One wrote: “Yay!!! Congrats Mama Ru @RuPaul @RuPaulsDragRace”

A second said: “RuPaul’s Drag Race has changed my life and I’m glad it’s getting the recognition it deserves.”

A third added: “Oh my God! Jumping, screaming, clapping! Condragtulations to @RuPaulsDragRace on their #Emmy win!”

Another wrote: “HERSTORY has been made kitties… @rupaulsdragrace just snatched the Emmy for Best Reality Series and after @rupaul’s win for Best Host, it’s the first time EVER a show has won the #Emmys for both!”

Tonight’s star-studded ceremony is taking place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Saturday Night Live stars Colin Jost and Michael Che are presenting the show and promised fans they’d be stirring up trouble with their on-stage skits and gags.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”
