A TOTAL of 16 high-class two-year-old’s are still in contention for the Mill Reef Stakes on Saturday.
The Group 2 race has eluded champion trainer Aidan O’Brien so far, but he could have as many as three runners in the Newbury feature.
Among his trio left in at the five-day confirmation stage is Land Force, who won the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in August.
Sergei Prokofiev finished third in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and could also take his place, as could The Irish Rover.
Karl Burke sent out two Group 1 winners in Ireland over the weekend in the shape of Laurens and Havana Grey.
He could chase further big-race success with the promising True Mason, who was third in the Prix Morny on his last start.
LATEST IN HORSE RACING
Mick Channon’s Barbill, who earned in a big payday in a sales race at the Curragh on Sunday, is also among the 16 remaining entries.
John Gosden has left Kessaar and Marhaba Milliar in the race, while Jeremy Nosesda could step the progressive Garrus in class.
Mark Johnston’s talented pair Marie’s Diamond and Main Edition are also still in contention.
The entries are completed by Cosmic Law, Don Armado, Konchek, Moyassar, Shine So Bright and Triggered.
