"Many Photos" - Millionaire conservationist’s fury as he posts pic of two ‘trophy hunters’ alongside dead body of young elephant shot ‘in self defence’

A MILLIONAIRE conservationist has told of his fury as he posted a tragic picture of two alleged trophy hunters smirking beside the body of a dead elephant.

Damian Aspinall shared the heartbreaking photo on social media – where he branded the gun-toting pair “monsters”.

British property magnate Mr Aspinall, 58, claimed the apparent “hunters” shot “not just one, but two young elephants”.

The passionate animal-lover added that the gunmen claimed to have been acting in “self defence”.

In a furious Instagram post, Mr Aspinall wrote: “There are few things more reprehensible than trophy hunting.

“These two monsters shot not just one, but two young elephants in ‘self defence’.”

‘SHOT FOR SPORT’

He added: “We should be doing all we can to conserve these beautiful, intelligent animals.

“Not shooting them down for sport.”

Mr Aspinall, thought to be worth £200million, did not provide more details about when or where the alleged shooting took place.

The Sun Online has contacted his animal charity The Aspinall Foundation for comment.

The pictured men were branded “evil” and “vile scum” online.

One Instagram user wrote: “‘Self defence’ yet they’ll pose for a photo.”

Another added: “Shocking – senseless – makes anyone human absolutely sick with disgust.”

A third activist said: “I detest trophy hunting with a passion, and I’m appalled that our government is leaving a massive loophole in the ivory ban in the form of allowing so called trophies to be brought back.”
