EASTER is less than four weeks away and egg hunts are being prepared all over the UK.
But what will the weather be like this Easter bank holiday weekend? Here’s everything you need to know.
What will the weather be like this Easter?
The Easter bank holiday will begin with Good Friday, which in 2019 falls on Friday, April 19.
Easter Sunday will be on Sunday, April 21, and the four-day weekend will be complete with Easter Monday, on April 22.
The Met Office releases its detailed weather reports on a weekly basis, so a thorough picture of what the weather will be like then is yet to be published.
But a long-range forecast does offer some clues for what’s to come.
For the period April 12 – 26, The Met Office says: “As is typical for spring, there is a lot of uncertainty in the forecast as we go further through April.
“However, weather systems are expected to push in from the Atlantic at the start of this period.
“As such the most unsettled and wettest weather is likely to be in the north and northeast, whilst it should stay drier towards the south and southwest.
“There are then some indications that a blocking pattern could develop through the middle of the month allowing for more settled weather generally.
“Some wetter interludes are still likely though, these perhaps mainly affecting the west and southwest.
“Temperatures are likely rise compared to normal, becoming warm for the second half of the month.”
But despite uncertainty in coming weeks, forecasters say this spring could be one of the hottest on record.
A Met Office spokesperson previously told The Sun Online: “For March-May, above-average temperatures are more likely than below-average.
“The probability UK average temperatures will fall into the warmest of our five categories is 50 per cent. The coldest category is 10 per cent.
“Some long-range prediction systems indicate an increased chance of high pressure to the south of the UK.”
The Weather Outlook’s Brian Gaze added: “With computer models strongly favouring a warm spring, there is potential for the record for the hottest spring to be challenged.
“Highs of 26C are likely in April. Plumes of warm air from Africa are expected.
“And there is an increased chance of a hot and settled summer due to the trend for more high pressure, which brings hot conditions in summer.”

When is Easter?
Unlike Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day which all fall on fixed dates, Easter can be anytime between March 22 and April 25.
In 2019 it falls on Sunday, April 21.
Good Friday is therefore April 19, and the Easter Monday bank holiday is on April 22.
The date is decided by a complex set of calculations based on observations of the moon.
In early Christianity, different churches used different methods, leading to disagreements which remain unresolved centuries later.
Eastern and Western churches continue to celebrate Easter according to different calendars, although sometimes by chance the festivals coincide.
