WITH Meghan Markle’s April due date soon approaching – royal fans are busy speculating about two things: the sex of the baby and what it will be called.
And while we don’t know the answer to either of these questions, royal bookmakers have experienced a flurry of bets lately that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting girl, who she plans to name Diana.
William Hill have put the odds at 8/11 for Prince Harry and wife Meghan’s firstborn child being a girl, and revealed that Diana is the latest ‘red hot favourite’ for names.
Spokesman Rupert Adams explained from outside Buckingham Palace that Diana stood at 10/1 at ‘no great surprise’ due to the obvious connection with Harry’s mother.
“But the recent move is for Victoria, also 10/1 – I really like it,” he continued. “We are still taking bets on gender – we are 8/11 for a girl, so the betting is suggesting there’s a great chance it’s a girl.”
With the flurry of bets on pink, there’s speculation that people with inside knowledge have been leading the trend.
Ever since Meghan’s baby shower the rumours over gender have speculation – with the royal choosing pink and pastel coloured desserts.
It was thought that at the private event the Duchess of Sussex shared the sex of her baby with friends, letting them know that she is due to give birth to a baby girl.
Other names in the mix for a girl include Alice and Isabella, both at 12/1 odds and Elizabeth and Grace at 16/1.
If it turns out to be a boy, Arthur is the current favourite at 4/1, with Edward, James and Phillip following close behind.
