Who is Vanessa Woodfield in Emmerdale?

Vanessa Woodfield is the daughter of Frank Clayton and half-sister of Tracy Metcalfe and first arrived in the village in December 2012.

She is mum to Johnny and currently lives with her girlfriend Charity Dingle in the Woolpack pub.

Vanessa is a vet by trade by is currently serving out a suspension after teenagers Gabby Thomas and Liv Flaherty managed to steal ketamine from her vet’s bag and used it to spike Lisa Dingle’s drink.

She’s close friends with her co-worker Rhona Goskirk and supported her through her prescription drug addiction and rape.

Who plays Vanessa Woodfield in Emmerdale?

Vanessa is played by British actress Michelle Hardwick.

Michelle was born February 26 1976 making her 42 years old.

Before landing her role in Emmerdale Michelle was best known for her role as receptionist Lizzie in ITV drama The Royal.

She’s appeared in Coronation Street twice as two different characters. In 1997 she popped up as Sheila Dixon and the following year as Naomi Russell.

She also had a minor role in Hollyoaks in 2012 playing a police officer who arrested Mitzeee Minniver.

Michelle has just got engaged to Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks.

What have Vanessa Woodfield’s biggest storylines been in Emmerdale?

Vanessa helps her friend Rhona Goskirk when she discovers Rhona has become addicted to painkillers following a back injury. While helping to wean Rhona off of drugs, Vanessa realised she has feelings for her friend.

Rhona and Vanessa had a brief fling but Vanessa was left heart-broken when Rhona told her she was just using her to get drugs.

Vanessa met a young man on a night out and slept with him. She was shocked to discover he was actually Priya Sharma’s 16-year-old soon-to-be stepson Kirin Kotecha.

They had a fling which resulted in Vanessa falling pregnant and giving birth to Johnny.

After questioning her sexuality, Vanessa realised she was gay and had a fling with bi-sexual pub landlady Charity Dingle.

After a few false starts, they realised they were serious about each other and started a relationship.

Vanessa supported Charity when she discovered the son she believed had died soon after birth, Ryan, was alive.

Vanessa also helped Charity face up to the abuse she suffered at the hands of evil DI Bails who raped and imprisoned her as a young teenager.

When Bails was found guilty and sent to prison for 30 years Charity and Vanessa – nicknamed Vanity by fans – declared their love for each other and Vanessa moved into the Woolpack.
